Global car rental comparison site DiscoverCars.com has revealed the world’s top 20 busiest roads, with Albania, Montenegro, and Morocco ranking as the most congested countries for drivers.
The survey, based on feedback from 12,015 drivers, asked travelers to score road traffic from 0 (quiet) to 10 (very crowded). Albania took first place with a score of 7.14, followed closely by Montenegro (7.12) and Morocco (6.91). Germany and Turkey rounded out the top five with scores of 6.74 and 6.71, respectively.
Aleksandrs Buraks, Head of Growth at DiscoverCars.com, said the results reflect the challenges of driving in these destinations:
“We wanted to find out which locations across the globe have the busiest roads to drive through. Our research shows that some countries, particularly in Southern Europe and North Africa, can be especially crowded during peak times.”
DiscoverCars.com advises road trippers to prepare in advance by planning alternative routes, avoiding peak travel hours, and downloading offline maps.
