British Motor Museum’s Classic Car Events Lineup for July

The British Motor Museum’s classic car events lineup for July promises an exciting month for enthusiasts and families alike, with five diverse motoring shows taking place throughout the month. From vintage buses to iconic British cars, the museum offers a rich celebration of automotive history, culture, and craftsmanship.

The festivities kick off on July 5 with the Wythall Busfest, organized in partnership with the Transport Museum Wythall. This show will feature over 100 buses and coaches, spanning from vintage restorations to modern hybrids and electric models. Visitors can also enjoy free heritage bus rides around local routes and within the museum grounds, providing a hands-on experience of bus history in motion.

July 6 marks the MGF Register 30th Anniversary celebration, a highlight event for fans of the MGF and MG TF models. Hundreds of these sporty British cars, along with other MG vehicles, will be showcased, attracting owners and admirers from across the UK and Europe. The event includes special guest talks, live music, trade stands, and a crafts village, making it a lively gathering for enthusiasts.

On July 13, the British Motor Corporation (BMC) & Leyland Show, supported by Peter James Insurance, will spotlight a wide range of British marques produced by the historic BMC, British Leyland, and The Rover Group. Hundreds of vehicles—from Minis and Morris Minors to Rover 800s, Montegos, and Maestros—will be on display. This year’s event will also commemorate the 70th anniversary of the BMC Competitions Department, with a special display of 100 rally and sports cars celebrating decades of British motorsport success.

July 20 is a big day featuring two major events simultaneously: the Old Ford Rally and Rootes Heritage Day, both supported by Peter James Insurance. The Old Ford Rally will showcase approximately 400 classic Ford vehicles dating from 50 to 100 years old, ranging from the early Model Ts to beloved models like the Cortinas, Capris, and Fiestas. Meanwhile, the Rootes Archive Centre Trust will celebrate the legacy of Rootes Group classics, including Hillmans, Humbers, Sunbeams, Singers, and later models like Chryslers, Simcas, and Talbots. Ticket holders can enjoy both events plus full access to the Museum and Collections Centre on the same day.

Adding a unique touch to the July lineup, the museum will host a Meccano exhibition in collaboration with the Midlands Meccano Guild during the event days. The exhibition, which has grown from 25 to over 50 tables of intricate Meccano models, is a must-see for modeling enthusiasts and anyone interested in mechanical creativity.

Tom Caren, Show Manager at the British Motor Museum, highlights the significance of the lineup: “We have a fantastic range of classic motoring shows for our visitors and enthusiasts to enjoy throughout July! These five shows literally sit at the heart of our shows season and really reflect the values of the British Motor Museum!”

Advance tickets are available at £17 for adults, £9 for children aged 5 to 16, with free entry for children under 5, £15 for concessions, and £46 for families, making these events accessible for all classic car fans and families to enjoy a month of automotive heritage.
