Uganda Airlines has placed a firm order for eight Boeing aircraft as the national carrier accelerates plans to expand its regional and international network.

The order includes four Boeing 737-8 aircraft and four Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners. The new aircraft will enable the airline to increase capacity and meet growing demand for travel to and from East Africa.

“This agreement with Boeing represents a decisive step in Uganda Airlines’ growth journey and in our broader ambition to position Entebbe as a strategic aviation hub in the region,” said Jennifer Bamuturaki, Chief Executive Officer of Uganda Airlines.

“These aircraft will strengthen our ability to connect Uganda more efficiently with the region, the continent and international markets, while supporting the growth of trade, tourism, investment and cargo transportation,” she added.

Founded in its current form in 2019, Uganda Airlines is the country’s national carrier. Operating from its hub at Entebbe International Airport, the airline serves 17 destinations across 13 countries in Africa, the Middle East, Asia and Europe.

The addition of the Boeing 737-8 aircraft will support the airline’s regional network, while the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners are expected to enhance long-haul operations and improve connectivity to international markets.

The fleet expansion forms part of Uganda Airlines’ strategy to strengthen Entebbe’s role as a regional aviation hub while supporting Uganda’s tourism industry, trade links, cargo operations and foreign investment.
