Wrocław Airport has started work on a new supporting terminal for passengers travelling outside the Schengen area. The building will cover almost 2,800 sq m and is due to open before the summer 2027 travel season.
The investment is worth 15.4 million zlotys net. STRABAG will carry out the project under a design and build contract, which means no visualisations of the new terminal are available yet.
The new facility is intended to ease operations for non-Schengen flights at the Polish airport, which serves both scheduled and leisure traffic. The project adds to wider efforts to expand airport capacity as demand continues to recover across European travel markets.
Supporting terminals are often used to manage passenger flows when airports need extra space for security, boarding or border procedures. At Wrocław, the new building will specifically serve travellers leaving the Schengen zone, where border checks are required.
The project is relatively modest in size compared with major terminal expansions, but it is significant for operational planning. Almost 2,800 sq m of additional space can help reduce crowding and improve processing for passengers on non-Schengen routes.
For travellers, the new terminal should mainly affect the ground experience rather than flight schedules. Passengers may see changes in check-in, security or boarding arrangements once the facility opens, depending on how the airport integrates it into existing operations.
Wrocław Airport is one of Poland’s key regional airports and handles a mix of domestic, European and longer-haul traffic through partner airlines. The new supporting terminal is designed to strengthen that role by making international departures more efficient.
