Poland Adds New Air Traffic Radar at Gdansk Airport

Poland has put a new air traffic surveillance radar into operation at the Gdansk Airport, aiming to improve the quality and stability of radar data. The system was launched by the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency, known as PAZP.

The new radar operates in the area of Gdansk Lech Walesa Airport. It is designed to support air traffic monitoring and strengthen the reliability of surveillance information used in Polish controlled airspace.

PAZP said the upgrade should deliver better-quality and more stable radar data. No further technical details or timing for the project were included in the source material.

The move forms part of broader investment in aviation infrastructure, which is increasingly important as air travel demand grows across Europe. Surveillance systems like this are central to managing traffic flow, maintaining safety standards and supporting airport operations.

Air navigation agencies rely on radar networks to track aircraft positions and to help controllers manage busy airspace. Better data quality can reduce the risk of gaps or interruptions in monitoring, especially in complex operational areas near major airports.

Gdansk Lech Walesa Airport is one of Poland’s key regional gateways and handles a mix of domestic and international traffic. Any improvement in air traffic surveillance in the area is likely to be closely watched by airlines, controllers and passengers alike.
