Rosewood Hotels & Resorts has announced plans for Rosewood Tokyo, the brand’s first urban hotel in Japan, marking another major step in its expansion across the Asia-Pacific region.
The luxury property will be developed in Tokyo’s Roppongi district as part of a large-scale mixed-use project combining hospitality, residences, retail and office space.
Rosewood Expands Presence In Japan
The announcement follows the debut of Rosewood Miyakojima in 2025 and reinforces the company’s long-term commitment to the Japanese luxury hospitality market.
Rosewood Tokyo is being developed in partnership with Mori Building Co., Ltd. and Sumitomo Realty & Development Co., Ltd.
The hotel will form part of the major Roppongi 5-Chome redevelopment project and will be directly connected to Roppongi Subway Station.
Luxury Hotel To Feature Around 200 Rooms
Rosewood Tokyo is expected to include approximately 200 guestrooms and suites, including large three-bedroom accommodations designed for extended stays and luxury travellers.
The property will also introduce multiple dining and bar concepts inspired by Tokyo’s internationally recognised culinary culture.
Guests will have access to Rosewood’s Manor Club and the Asaya wellness concept, which will include an indoor swimming pool, fitness facilities and yoga spaces.
Major Event And Wellness Facilities Planned
The hotel will also feature a range of event spaces, including a grand ballroom designed to host international gatherings and cultural events.
Rosewood said the project aims to combine Japanese craftsmanship, contemporary design and local cultural influences through its “A Sense of Place” philosophy.
The development is intended to create a luxury hospitality experience rooted in Tokyo’s urban identity while reflecting the city’s global influence.
Roppongi Development Targets International Luxury Market
Mori Building President and CEO Shingo Tsuji described the Roppongi 5-Chome project as an opportunity to strengthen Tokyo’s competitiveness within the international luxury market.
Sumitomo Realty & Development President Kojun Nishima said the partnership with Rosewood is expected to help position the project as a globally recognised destination.
Rosewood Continues Global Expansion Strategy
The Tokyo project forms part of Rosewood Hotel Group’s wider global growth strategy, which includes upcoming openings in Seoul, Shenzhen, the Maldives, Napa Valley and Rome.
Rosewood Tokyo will complement the more nature-focused experience of Rosewood Miyakojima by introducing a distinctly urban luxury offering in one of the world’s leading international cities.
