Ryanair Flight Diverts To Bristol After Passenger Taken Ill Mid-Air

Medical Emergency Forces Mid-Flight Diversion

A Ryanair flight traveling from Malaga to Leeds was forced to divert to Bristol Airport after a passenger became seriously ill during the journey.

The incident happened on Tuesday, May 12, while the aircraft was operating a scheduled service between Spain and the UK.

According to reports, a woman onboard became unresponsive during the flight, prompting the crew to request an unscheduled diversion so emergency medical assistance could meet the aircraft as quickly as possible.

Passenger Taken To Hospital After Landing

After the plane landed at Bristol Airport, medical teams boarded the aircraft and attended to the passenger before she was transported to hospital for further treatment.

Details about the woman’s condition have not been officially confirmed.

The diversion caused a delay to the service before the aircraft later resumed its journey to Leeds Bradford Airport.

Flight Continued To Leeds Overnight

Following the medical emergency and stop in Bristol, the Ryanair flight eventually continued north and arrived in Leeds shortly before 1am.

Emergency diversions for onboard medical incidents are relatively common in commercial aviation, with flight crews trained to prioritize immediate medical assistance when passengers become critically unwell during a journey.
