Radisson RED Auckland has officially opened its doors, marking the arrival of the Radisson RED brand in Australasia and the long-anticipated debut of Radisson Hotel Group in New Zealand.
Located at 33 Lorne Street in the heart of Auckland’s Arts District, the 322-room hotel blends bold design, immersive art installations and social-first hospitality. Positioned within the Central Business District, the property introduces what is set to become New Zealand’s largest outdoor rooftop space, adding a new social and events destination to the city skyline.
A Creative Hub in Auckland’s Arts District
Set steps from cultural landmarks such as the Auckland Art Gallery, Civic Theatre and the iconic Sky Tower, the hotel anchors itself firmly within Auckland’s creative core. Guests are also within easy reach of Auckland War Memorial Museum, ferry connections to Waiheke Island and the region’s West Coast beaches.
The design narrative channels the theatrical energy of the Arts District. Corridor lighting mimics stage spotlights, lounge seating references opera boxes, and guestrooms evoke backstage dressing rooms through layered textures, expressive colour palettes and curated artwork.
Higher-floor accommodations deliver sweeping skyline views, while the Suite Panorama frames Albert Park, the harbour and central Auckland from an elevated vantage point.
Rooftop Destination and Social Energy
Crowning the property is a vibrant rooftop restaurant and bar concept, designed as a flexible venue for up to 219 guests in cocktail-style configuration. With panoramic views toward the Sky Tower, the rooftop connects seamlessly to adaptable event spaces that can be configured into four naturally lit rooms.
The hotel positions this rooftop as a creative playground suitable for celebrations, weddings, live performances and corporate gatherings, reinforcing RED’s brand focus on social connection and immersive experiences.
An all-day dining venue and bar on the lower levels offer additional spaces for relaxed interaction, while a fully equipped fitness centre operates daily from 5AM to 11PM.
Pet-Friendly and Community-Minded
Radisson RED Auckland is also among the city’s few pet-friendly hotels, welcoming guests traveling with dogs. This community-driven approach reflects the brand’s emphasis on inclusivity and informal luxury.
Tim Cordon, Chief Operating Officer for MEA and SEAP at Radisson Hotel Group, described the opening as a milestone for the brand’s expansion in Australasia, positioning Auckland as a natural fit for RED’s playful and design-led concept.
General Manager Reinout Engel emphasized that the hotel has been conceived not simply as accommodation, but as a cultural connector within the CBD – a space where locals and visitors can engage with the city’s creative pulse.
With its 31 Lorne Street address, bold artistic identity and expansive rooftop venue, Radisson RED Auckland introduces a new contemporary hospitality benchmark to New Zealand’s largest city.
