Octola Unveils Octola II, a New Ultra-Private Wilderness Retreat in Finnish Lapland

Octola, the pioneer of ultra-private and transformative Arctic travel, has unveiled Octola II, a new wilderness retreat deep in the heart of Finnish Lapland. The new property builds on the global reputation of Octola Private Wilderness, marking a significant new chapter in the evolution of Arctic luxury, where privacy, purpose, and deep connection to nature take precedence over traditional hospitality models.

Since opening in 2018, Octola Private Wilderness has set a benchmark for high-end accommodation in the Arctic. Located at an undisclosed site on the Arctic Circle and surrounded by more than 600 hectares of private wilderness, the original lodge redefined what off-grid luxury could look like. Complete seclusion, bespoke adventures, wildlife encounters, and refined comfort beneath the aurora borealis made Octola a destination for those seeking absolute discretion and authenticity.

The launch of Octola II is driven by demand as much as by vision. According to founder Janne Honkanen, the vast majority of Octola’s guests return, limiting availability at the original property. He explains that Octola II was created to extend the experience without compromising the brand’s core values. Guests can expect everything they associate with Octola, and more, with the new retreat pushing boundaries even further.

Set in an elevated and undisclosed location, Octola II is surrounded by boreal forest, pristine snowfields, and expansive Arctic views. The setting offers near-total silence and uninterrupted immersion in nature, with the Northern Lights visible on more than 200 nights a year. During summer, the Midnight Sun casts a surreal, continuous glow across the landscape. Access is strictly by private transfer, and the retreat operates entirely off-grid by design.

At the heart of the experience is the newly built Octola II Lodge, spanning nearly 800 square metres. It features five ensuite bedrooms, an in-house spa, three saunas, a gym, cigar lounge, staff quarters, and a dedicated Northern Lights viewing space with glass walls and ceilings. Every element is designed to blend into the surrounding wilderness while delivering understated, highly functional luxury.

Complementing the main lodge is the Octola II Supersuite Villa, a standalone residence with two expansive ensuite bedrooms, each with a private sauna, bath, and outdoor hot tub. A glass-enclosed living area allows guests to watch the auroras from indoors, making it ideal for small families, close friends, or couples travelling together.

Privacy remains central to Octola’s philosophy. Honkanen continues to position the brand as one of the most discreet luxury destinations in the world, where exclusivity is intentional and visibility is minimal. As with the original property, Octola II does not accept online reservations. Access is managed through a carefully curated waiting list, reinforcing the sense that this is an experience reserved for a select few.

Honkanen emphasises that discretion remains the highest priority. Information is shared only with trusted guests and partners, maintaining the mystique that has become synonymous with the Octola name.

With Octola II, the brand further cements its position at the forefront of experiential, ultra-private travel. At a time when luxury is increasingly defined by space, silence, and meaning, Octola’s expansion reflects a growing demand for places that feel untouched, deeply personal, and profoundly rare.
