Eurostar Expands London-Amsterdam Route with More Daily Trains and a Smoother Journey Than Ever

Come December 15, 2025, traveling between London and Amsterdam will become even easier—and far more appealing—thanks to a major upgrade in Eurostar’s service. The high-speed rail operator is set to introduce five direct trains a day in each direction on one of Europe’s busiest travel corridors, giving passengers more flexibility, greater convenience, and a far more sustainable alternative to flying.

This expansion didn’t happen overnight. It’s the result of years of planning and a transformative milestone reached earlier this year: the opening of a brand-new cross-channel terminal in Amsterdam. Opened in February 2025, the sleek new facility has already helped reshape the route’s future. Capacity has tripled, leaping from just 275 passengers per train in 2024 to over 650 today. The terminal now operates at full throttle, delivering a seamless, city-to-city travel experience between two of Europe’s most vibrant capitals.

And travelers are responding. Since the terminal’s debut, Eurostar has seen an 18% increase in passenger numbers from London to Amsterdam compared to the same period last year. Demand has surged, driven by leisure travelers seeking a more relaxed, lower-carbon journey—and by the business community, too.

In fact, business travel continues to play a significant role in the route’s success. Last year alone, around 130,000 business passengers—roughly 15% of total ridership—chose Eurostar between the two cities. For many professionals, the train’s comfort, efficiency, and central-to-central route simply makes better sense than flying.

“London to Amsterdam is one of the busiest air routes in Europe,” notes Gwendoline Cazenave, CEO of Eurostar. “With five daily returns and more than 3,000 seats a day, we’re now offering a compelling and sustainable alternative. We’ve seen exceptional demand since February, and the additional daily service gives customers even more choice and flexibility. This is part of our wider ambition to make international high-speed rail the first choice for travelers across Europe.”

That ambition is no small feat. In 2024, Eurostar transported 4.3 million passengers to and from the Netherlands—a number that looks set to climb as more travelers opt for low-carbon, high-speed alternatives to short-haul flights. Looking ahead, Eurostar has set a bold target: 30 million passengers annually across its network, powered by a new fleet of trains and the expansion of routes out of Amsterdam, including future links to destinations like Geneva.

For travelers, the story is simpler. No airport queues. No long transfers. Just a fast, comfortable, and increasingly frequent train that connects two capitals in just a few hours—with a dramatically smaller carbon footprint. If the London-Amsterdam route was once about convenience, it’s now becoming about confidence in a better way to travel.
