Boryspil International Airport Ready to Resume Operations Within a Month After Airspace Reopens

Boryspil International Airport has announced its readiness to resume passenger flights within a month after Ukraine’s airspace is reopened.

“As of today, our airport’s level of readiness is approximately one month. From the moment such a decision [to reopen airspace] is made, we will be able to launch flights from Boryspil,” said the airport’s CEO, Oleksiy Dubrevskyi, in a statement to RBC-Ukraine.

Airlines Ready to Return

According to Dubrevskyi, airlines have already prepared plans for a swift return to operations. “They know where to source crews, where to get additional aircraft to ensure flight execution,” he noted.

It is expected that carriers will be able to organize the first flights within a month after airspace restrictions are lifted.

Ryanair Plans a Large-Scale Comeback

Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary has confirmed the airline’s readiness to resume flights to Ukraine once the war officially ends.

He estimated that the airline would need between four to six weeks to restart operations. Initially, Ryanair plans to launch 24 routes to and from Kyiv and Lviv.

However, the airline does not yet plan to resume flights to Odesa or Kherson, O’Leary stated.
