Australian national carrier Qantas has announced plans to operate the world’s longest non-stop flight, connecting Sydney to London and New York. The groundbreaking flights, set to begin by mid-2026, will last over 19 hours and utilize the advanced Airbus A350 aircraft.
The Next Frontier in Aviation
The new non-stop routes will mark a major milestone in the aviation industry. Each Airbus A350 will accommodate approximately 238 passengers and feature cutting-edge amenities to ensure comfort on ultra-long-haul journeys.
First-class travelers can look forward to an unparalleled flying experience, including:
- An ultra-wide stationary bed.
- A reclining chair.
- A personal wardrobe.
- A 32-inch television.
- A two-person dining and work table.
Minimizing Jet Lag
To enhance passenger well-being on these marathon flights, Qantas is exploring innovative ways to reduce jet lag. Proposed solutions include:
- Simulating different times of day through lighting and projections.
- Introducing a “well-being zone” with visuals like clouds, moonlight, and water reflections.
Breaking Records
Currently, the world’s longest non-stop flight is operated by Singapore Airlines, flying from Singapore to New York and lasting 18 to 19 hours. Qantas aims to surpass this record with its Sydney-London and Sydney-New York routes.
The airline’s existing long-haul service from Perth to Europe already takes approximately 17 hours, but the new Airbus A350 flights will redefine the possibilities of global travel.
