Uber for Business has introduced a new premium ride option, Uber Business Black, designed to meet the growing demand from corporate travelers, the company announced on Tuesday. This new service reimagines the traditional black-car experience by offering elevated perks and flexibility tailored to business executives.
Uber Business Black features luxury vehicles, including models like the Mercedes G-Class and Rivian R1S, ensuring a stylish and comfortable ride. Key benefits include extra time for pick-ups and on-time pick-up protection. If a driver isn’t matched within a specified time frame or arrives late for a pick-up—starting at five minutes—riders will receive Uber Cash as compensation. The amount of extra time depends on whether the ride was pre-scheduled or requested on demand. For non-airport pick-ups, there’s a five-minute grace period before wait fees apply, while airport pick-ups allow just two minutes.
One of the main distinctions between Uber Business Black and the regular Uber Black service is its flexible scheduling. Customers or executive assistants can use Uber Reserve to book rides in advance, or they can request a car on demand through the app. Additionally, 24/7 customer support is available for up to 72 hours post-ride, compared to 24 hours for Uber Black riders. Receipts are emailed automatically after a ride, and if expense integration is enabled, they are directly uploaded to the rider’s expense provider.
“Uber Business Black is designed to improve the business travel experience and provide much-needed peace of mind,” said Josh Butler, global general manager of Uber for Business. “The new ride type combines the luxury and comfort executives need to unwind between meetings with the flexibility and convenience of Uber to ensure a smoother, more reliable experience.”
Since the introduction of Uber Business Comfort in mid-2023, more than half of Uber for Business travelers have opted for premium ride types such as Business Comfort, Comfort Electric, Black, or Reserve. According to Uber, business riders have made it clear they prioritize enhanced support, comfort, and reliability when traveling for work, and Uber Business Black aims to meet those needs.
