Air France, KLM, and SAS have entered into codeshare and interline agreements that will include reciprocal loyalty program benefits and enhanced connectivity across the three carriers’ respective European networks.
As part of this deal, Air France and KLM customers will gain access to 33 destinations in Northern Europe via SAS’s network. Conversely, SAS customers will be able to connect to 33 additional destinations in Europe through Air France and KLM’s hubs at Paris Charles de Gaulle airport and Amsterdam Schiphol airport.
The agreement will extend to intercontinental destinations “in the near future,” according to the carriers.
These agreements will come into effect on September 1, 2024, when SAS officially joins the SkyTeam alliance, of which Air France-KLM is a founding member. This will enable members of Flying Blue and EuroBonus, the respective loyalty programs of Air France-KLM and SAS, to earn and spend points on all flights. Eligible EuroBonus members will also gain access to additional SkyTeam benefits such as priority boarding, check-in, and lounge access.
“These agreements mark an important step towards a close commercial cooperation between Air France, KLM, and SAS,” said Angus Clarke, chief commercial officer at Air France-KLM. “We look forward to further developing this relationship and strengthening our position in the Scandinavian region.”
SAS commercial chief Paul Verhagen added, “The collaboration with Air France-KLM holds great opportunities. It will not only attract new passengers to SAS, but also elevate SAS’ global visibility and connectivity. We are looking forward to a successful, long-standing collaboration together.”
Air France and KLM currently operate up to 200 weekly flights between their hubs and SAS’s bases in Copenhagen, Oslo, and Stockholm. SAS operates up to 44 weekly flights to Paris CDG and 65 weekly flights to Amsterdam Schiphol.
