Aer Lingus announced the cancellation of another 80 flights scheduled for later this week, adding to the travel disruptions caused by an ongoing pay dispute with its pilots’ union.
The latest cancellations will impact flights from Thursday, July 11th, to Sunday, July 14th, and come on top of the 76 flights already scrapped between July 8th and 10th. The Irish Air Line Pilots’ Association (IALPA) is currently engaged in “working to rule” actions, which is causing significant disruption for Aer Lingus, a subsidiary of IAG.
“These cancellations are being implemented to protect as many other services as possible for our passengers,” Aer Lingus said in a statement.
The airline acknowledged the anxiety caused by the situation and assured impacted customers of their options. Passengers whose flights are cancelled can rebook for free, or choose to receive a full refund or voucher for future travel.
This ongoing dispute threatens to cast a shadow over the busy summer travel season. It’s recommended that anyone flying with Aer Lingus in the coming days check their flight status directly with the airline.
