Eastern Airways Launched Aberdeen Flights from Teesside Airport

Eastern Airways has launched Aberdeen flights from Teesside Airport, reinstating what is currently the only North-East England to Scotland flights.

Initially, the service will operate daily on weekdays and Sundays, with an increase to twice daily from September 9th. This expansion will provide peak morning and evening services, ensuring connectivity to the UK’s North-East Scotland energy hub.

The return of Eastern Airways to the Aberdeen service, after operating the route from 2001 until 2022, complements the airline’s well-established Teesside seasonal summer Jersey service. Additionally, Eastern Airways recently based a 100-seat Embraer 190 at Teesside Airport to operate the KLM Cityhopper Amsterdam service. This move increases Eastern’s operations to up to 54 arrivals and departures weekly from Teesside Airport.

Ben Houchen, the recently re-elected Mayor of Tees Valley, who attended today’s inaugural flight, emphasized the importance of the Aberdeen link for offshore workers. He stated, “It is absolutely vital offshore workers keep their link to Aberdeen to get to and from work, and I’m delighted we’ve been able to bring this back to our departure boards again with Eastern Airways.”

Paul Livingstone, Head of Membership for NOF, highlighted the significance of the daily flights between Teesside International Airport and Aberdeen for the energy sector members. He mentioned that it provides a vital commuter route, reinforcing business connections for the region’s expanding offshore energy facilities.

Chris Tibbett, Aero Director at AGS Airports, expressed delight in welcoming back the Aberdeen to Teesside route with Eastern Airways, emphasizing the commitment to meeting the needs of passengers and supporting regional air travel growth.

Roger Hage, Eastern Airways Commercial Director, emphasized the importance of connecting the UK’s energy capital, Aberdeen, to significant regions throughout the UK. He highlighted the value of re-establishing the Teesside route, given the increasing demand and investments in the Tees Ports.

The Teesside-Aberdeen service, starting as a daily service, will increase to twice daily from September. Passengers will enjoy complimentary drinks and snacks alongside various baggage inclusive fare options. Multi-flight route pass fares will also be available, offering discounts and free flight changes for regular travelers.
