The World’s Most Spectacular Pools

In a world where countless pools dot the landscape, some stand out as architectural marvels, offering experiences beyond the ordinary. They provide opportunities for diving and surfing, boating, and “swimming in the skies.” Let’s check the world’s most spectacular pools.

World’s longest panoramic pool

The forthcoming Treyam Resort, nestled in the future city of Neom in Saudi Arabia, is set to redefine luxury with its groundbreaking design and amenities. Its main feature will be the world’s longest panoramic pool overlooking the Gulf of Aqaba. The pool will be located on the roof of a futuristic bridge-shaped hotel, connecting the shores of the lagoon in the southern part of the Gulf of Aqaba. To enhance the visual splendor of Treyam, the hotel facades will be multimedia, creating an illusion of sunset. Guests will swim at a height of 36 meters above sea level. The pool will be 450 meters long, making it the longest suspended pool in the world. The Saudi novelty will be 330 meters longer than the current record-breaking pool at the One&Only One Za’abeel hotel in Dubai.

The One&Only One Za’abeel hotel opened on January 1, 2024. It accommodates 229 rooms, and some suites from the Sanctuary collection are equipped with massage tables for in-room procedures and a meditation area. However the main feature of the Dubai hotel is the suspended panoramic pool, 120 meters long, located at a height of 100 meters above the ground between two towers. Swimmers can see Za’abeel Park, the Burj Khalifa skyscraper, and the skyline.

The world’s highest panoramic pool

Epic views from a height of 200 meters are guaranteed at the Aura Skypool Dubai, the world’s highest panoramic pool with a 360° view. From this sparkling water bowl located on the 50th floor of The Palm Tower on the artificial island of Palm Jumeirah, there is a panoramic view of the emirate, the horizon of the Arabian Gulf, the iconic Burj Al Arab hotel, and much more.

Another Dubai hotel, the Address Beach Resort, also offers swimming in a pool with a view from a height of almost 294 meters above sea level. Not everyone is allowed in: entry is permitted only to hotel guests over 21 years old. This is one of Dubai’s most Instagrammable pools, with views of the Persian Gulf and the Ain Dubai Ferris wheel.

The world’s deepest pool

Dubai can boast not only the tallest and longest but also the deepest pool in the world. This is the Deep Dive Dubai, with a depth of 60 meters, almost 15 meters deeper than the previous record holder, the Polish Deep Spot. Deep Dive Dubai can hold 14 million liters of fresh water with a temperature of 30°C. At the bottom of the deep-water giant is an entire underwater city—with a multi-story house, library, and game room equipped with table football, billiards, and arcade machines.

The world’s largest artificial lagoon

Size matters in Saudi Arabia, where the world’s largest artificial lagoon has been built. The huge pool with an area of 12.19 hectares is located on the Boulevard of the World in Riyadh. The lagoon is part of Riyadh’s Boulevard World theme park, which also features the world’s largest spherical theater.

The world’s largest pool without access to the sea

Despite not being operational for over 50 years, the Fleishhacker Pool in San Francisco still holds the record for the world’s largest pool without access to the sea. The pool, 304.8 meters long and 45.7 meters wide, opened in 1925, and its depth is 4.26 meters. It can accommodate up to 10,000 swimmers at once. Among the currently operational pools, the largest pool in the world is located in Chile. At the San Alfonso del Mar resort, there is a pool that could be considered a small sea: it is over a kilometer long and up to 3.5 meters deep. Even small boats sail here.

The world’s highest open-air infinity pool

According to the Guinness World Records, the SLS Dubai Hotel & Residences houses the world’s highest open-air infinity pool. Privilege is located on the 75th floor, offering a great view of the Burj Khalifa and all the surrounding skyscrapers.

The world’s largest pool with artificial waves

According to the World Waterpark Association, the bustling capital of Thailand is home to the world’s largest pool with artificial waves. The Wave Pool is located in Siam Park City, covering an area of 13,600 square meters.

The world’s first completely transparent suspended pool

While not an official world record, the Sky Pool in London is the world’s first completely transparent suspended pool. The 25-meter self-supporting acrylic structure, stretching between the tenth floors of two high-rise residential buildings in southwest London, hangs in the air at a height of about 35 meters above the ground. From the pool basin, swimmers can enjoy a panorama of London, including the London Eye and Westminster Abbey. One downside: this beauty is only available to residents of the residential complex.

From the forthcoming Treyam Resort in Saudi Arabia, boasting the world’s longest panoramic pool, to Dubai’s Aura Skypool offering epic views from 200 meters above ground, and the Deep Dive Dubai, plunging 60 meters below the surface, each pool offers a unique and unforgettable experience.
