Limehome Expands in Italy, Greece and Switzerland

Limehome is expanding its presence in three new countries: Italy, Greece, and Switzerland. Both Italy and Greece, Mediterranean destinations, are among the world’s most popular tourism spots, while Switzerland is an attractive destination for leisure and business travelers alike. With new locations in Rome, Milan, the Amalfi Coast, Athens, Piraeus, and Zurich, Limehome continues its rapid growth trajectory. Five years after its inception, the Munich-based company now offers over 5,000 apartments in ten European markets.

Rome and Athens are among Europe’s most sought-after travel destinations, while Milan, Piraeus, and Zurich are significant economic hubs in their respective countries. The Amalfi Coast has long been beloved by international and local visitors alike. Limehome is further solidifying its presence in Europe’s top tourist destinations. In the future, the company plans to expand to regional centers and smaller strategic business and leisure destinations in addition to entering major metropolitan areas.

“We aim to offer our exceptional guest experience throughout Europe in the long term. Italy and Greece are perennial leisure tourism favorites and an essential part of our expansion strategy in Europe. Zurich, as a business destination, is particularly appealing to our corporate guests,” said Limehome CEO Dr. Josef Vollmayr. “Greece has seen a significant increase in international business activity and has substantial economic potential. We see great opportunities for our business model in all three markets and intend to expand our offerings in these countries quickly.”

Ricky Bichel, Head of International Expansion at Limehome, added, “Entering three such important markets is a significant step in our expansion strategy, towards becoming Europe’s leading serviced apartment provider. When we consider new markets, we focus on the long-term prospects. This means we are not only interested in one-time actions but seek partners with whom we can achieve long-term success. Capital cities are not our sole focus; since Limehome is profitable in smaller cities, we aim to create new offerings in as many places as possible. We are already engaged in promising discussions with partners, including those in Switzerland. Additionally, we are currently exploring new projects in over 500 locations across Europe.”

From university neighborhoods to UNESCO World Heritage sites: Limehome in Italy
In Rome, Limehome will begin its operations in the vibrant San Lorenzo student quarter, near La Sapienza University and Rome-Termini main station, known for its Bohemian atmosphere. In Milan, Limehome has chosen Porta Nuova, a district renowned for its innovative urban development and home to the iconic “Bosco Verticale” (Vertical Forest), making it a favored location for tech companies.

Limehome is expanding its premium offerings to Salerno and the Amalfi Coast as well. An old hotel in Salerno, with direct access to the beach promenade, is being renovated to restore its original function as a guesthouse. Another Limehome property will be established in Maiori, a town with the largest beach on the Amalfi Coast. Starting in 2025, Limehome guests can explore Salerno and the Amalfi Coast, one of Italy’s many UNESCO World Heritage sites.

Four New Locations in Greece
In Greece, Limehome has signed lease agreements for four locations. In Athens, Limehome has chosen a property in the Exarchia neighborhood, known for its nightlife and cultural scene. The building is in close proximity to numerous tourist attractions, and the highlight of this Limehome is its exclusive rooftop terrace. Limehome will also be present in Piraeus at three locations. This port city is one of Europe’s most important maritime hubs and is becoming an increasingly popular travel destination in the country.

Central Location in Zurich’s Old Town
For its entry into the Swiss market, the hospitality tech company has secured a project in an excellent location in Zurich’s Old Town in collaboration with a Swiss investor group. Located in District 1, in a quiet area not far from the famous Bahnhofstrasse, the new Limehome apartments are situated in an existing building undergoing extensive renovations. Two units feature rooftop terraces, while others have balconies. Limehome spans four floors in total. Guests are expected to be able to book the suites from mid-2024.
