Early this morning, six airports in France underwent evacuation procedures in response to bomb threats, as reported by BFMTV citing police sources.
The evacuation took place at the airports in Lille, Lyon-Bron, Nice, Nantes, Toulouse, and Beauvais. Extensive security checks were conducted, involving explosive experts. At the time of this news publication, which was at 12:43 Moscow time, some checks were still ongoing at select facilities, and none of the airports had resumed flight operations. Passengers on incoming flights were either asked to remain on board their aircraft until the security checks were completed or were disembarked without being brought into the terminal building.
BFMTV provided specific details, stating that an electronic threat of an explosion was received at Lille Airport, while the evacuation at Nice Airport was triggered by the discovery of an unattended piece of luggage.
This incident comes on the heels of two recent evacuations at the Palace of Versailles due to bomb threats in the past few days.
Security forces and airport authorities in France are taking these threats seriously, and investigations into the source of the threats are ongoing. Passengers and staff at the affected airports are advised to remain vigilant and cooperative as authorities work to ensure their safety.
