The International Congress on Ultrasonics 2019 is the seventh world-wide meeting of the ultrasonics community continuing a long tradition of Ultrasonics International conferences as well as World Congresses on Ultrasonics. The 2019ICU@Bruges is organized and hosted this year by the Universities of Leuven and Ghent, Belgium (KU Leuven).
The ICU Congresses aim to bring together professionals and experts from academia and industry in all disciplines of ultrasonics, covering fundamental science as well as applications in the field of engineering material characterization and quality inspection, chemical and biological US based monitoring, medical imaging and therapy.
“The ICU meetings provide a valuable and unique opportunity for participants to exchange their research achievements and experience in view of addressing present-day challenges as well as to enlarge their international contacts on the field.”, explains Prof. dr. Koen Van Den Abeele, University of Leuven Campus Kulak and President of the Organizing Committee. “We are excited to organize this meeting in Belgium, and particularly in Bruges, one of the most attractive cities in the world. The combination of good science communication facilities and a beautiful setting always turns out to be stimulating.”
“The organization of the conference already started back in 2015 so we are really looking forward finally welcoming the delegates and the organizing committee in Bruges”, explains Alderman for Tourism Philip Pierins.
The organization of this year’s ICU meeting was executed by the KU Leuven Conference Office. “We love organizing conferences in Bruges”, says Ms. Dominique De Brabanter, conference organizer. “The support by Meeting in Brugge is a dream for every conference organizer.”
