Scenic Group Reveals Scenic Ikon, Its Largest and Most Luxurious Discovery Yacht

Scenic Group, the pioneer that first brought helicopters and submarines to luxury expedition cruising, is once again redefining small-ship exploration. The company has unveiled details of the Scenic Ikon, a groundbreaking new vessel set to launch in 2028, marking a bold new chapter for yacht-style, ultra-luxury sailing.

When it joins sister ships Scenic Eclipse and Scenic Eclipse II, the Ikon will become the largest vessel in Scenic’s Discovery Yacht fleet — offering more suites, more dining options, and more opportunities for indulgent adventure.

The new yacht will feature 21 additional all-veranda suites, ranging from 365 to 2,692 square feet, along with 15 dining venues — a third more than its predecessors. Every dining experience will remain fully inclusive, with no extra charges even at the fine-dining restaurants, according to Robert Castro, Vice President of Marketing for the Americas.

Designed for both polar and tropical exploration, the Scenic Ikon will carry a Polar Code 6 rating and Ice Class 1A Super hull, enabling it to sail through Antarctica’s icy waters between November and April.

The ship’s amenities are equally ambitious: a 20,000-square-foot spa spread over two decks will feature an outdoor pool, hot and cold plunge pools, and panoramic relaxation areas. Guests can also enjoy a dedicated “yacht club” area, multiple outdoor pools, and a retractable marina with direct access to the sea. The marina will include launch zones for kayaks, paddleboards, and motorized watercraft, as well as floating cabanas and a central seawater pool that blurs the line between ship and ocean.

True to Scenic’s adventurous spirit, the Ikon will also carry two helicopters and a submersible, offering both sky-high and deep-sea experiences. Scenic remains the only cruise line in the world to feature both aircraft and submersible exploration on board.

The Scenic Ikon will be one of six new ships the company plans to introduce over the next three years, alongside three new Emerald Cruises ocean yachts and two European river vessels — signaling a confident expansion for the brand that continues to push the boundaries of luxury exploration.
