The Palace Company has unveiled plans for Moon Palace The Grand–Punta Cana, a $1.5 billion mega-resort that will become the Dominican Republic’s most ambitious and environmentally conscious tourism development to date.
With 2,171 luxury rooms, 66% offering direct ocean views, the resort will claim the title of the largest number of oceanfront accommodations in the country’s history. The project marks a pivotal moment in the evolution of Punta Cana‘s hospitality scene, combining vertical innovation, ecological preservation, and social responsibility at a scale never before seen in the region.
“This project is a game-changer for hospitality in the Caribbean,” said Gibrán Chapur, CEO of The Palace Company. “Its scale, vertical design, environmental preservation, and human impact will set a new standard for our industry.”
Vertical Vision with an Environmental Heart
Unlike the traditional low-rise resorts that dominate the Dominican coastline, Moon Palace The Grand–Punta Cana will feature two dramatic 18-story towers, allowing the company to preserve more than 228,000 square meters of natural landscape, including a rare 400-meter stretch of protected mangrove forest. A system of elevated walkways will allow guests to access the beach without disturbing the surrounding ecosystem.
The resort’s tiered design cleverly integrates sustainability into its structure, conserving an additional 38,000 square meters of green space every three floors—a feat that positions the development as the most environmentally sustainable hotel ever built in the country.
A Community Beyond the Resort
Perhaps the most visionary element of the project is Ciudad Palace, a first-of-its-kind residential community designed for hospitality workers and their families. This long-term initiative addresses one of the industry’s most overlooked challenges: the long and costly commutes faced by employees.
The development’s first phase will include 1,800 apartments, schools, parks, sports facilities, retail outlets, and essential services—providing dignified housing for 4,000 staff. Once complete, Ciudad Palace is expected to support a population of over 12,000 residents, setting a precedent for inclusive tourism development in the Caribbean.
A New Era of Renewable Luxury
Looking ahead, Moon Palace The Grand–Punta Cana will operate entirely on renewable energy by 2027, utilizing solar power by day and wind energy by night—an ambitious leap that will significantly reduce its carbon footprint.
The property will feature 19 restaurants, bars, and nightclubs, and its vibrant grand lobby is expected to welcome more than 5,000 daily visitors, making it a new landmark of luxury, entertainment, and ecological integrity in the Caribbean.
Opening in 2026
Recruitment for the groundbreaking resort begins in three months, with the official opening slated for early 2026. As Moon Palace The Grand–Punta Cana rises along the Dominican coastline, it promises not just luxury—but a new benchmark for sustainability, community investment, and responsible tourism.
