Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv will be closed from 8:00 AM on September 2 (local time) due to a nationwide strike in Israel.

Arnon Bar-David, head of the Israeli Confederation of Trade Unions “Histadrut,” earlier announced a one-day general strike on Monday, September 2, demanding that the government secure the immediate release of hostages held in the Gaza Strip. His announcement came following reports of the death of six Israeli hostages in Gaza, including Alexander Lobanov, who also held Russian citizenship. According to the Israeli army’s press office, their bodies were found by soldiers on the evening of August 31 in one of the underground tunnels in the Rafah area in southern Gaza, where fighting had been ongoing in recent days.

A full list of businesses that will halt operations on September 2 will be published later. According to the Ynet portal, the strike is expected to include healthcare facilities, pharmacies, defense companies, and food production plants. The Tel Aviv municipality has also expressed its support for the strike.
