Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), India’s largest hospitality company, has continued its rapid expansion by signing 20 new hotels during the first quarter of FY2027, increasing its portfolio to 645 hotels worldwide.
As of 30 June 2026, IHCL operates 382 hotels and has a development pipeline of 263 properties, reinforcing its position as one of India’s fastest-growing hotel groups.
Growth Driven by Gateway, Ginger and Tree of Life
Seventeen of the 20 hotel signings were across IHCL’s growth brands – Gateway, Ginger and Tree of Life. The company expanded into new destinations including Bharatpur, Trichy, Sindhudurg, Jawai and Wayanad, while strengthening its presence in established markets such as Mumbai, Goa, Agra and Kolkata.
“With a focus on our growth brands, seventeen of the twenty signings this quarter were across Gateway, Ginger and Tree of Life,” said Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President – Real Estate & Development at IHCL.
The company’s luxury Taj brand also reached a major milestone, growing its portfolio to 150 hotels following three new signings in Dharamshala, Barapani in Meghalaya and Kusur Valley in Maharashtra.
11 New Hotels Opened
IHCL also opened 11 hotels during the quarter, increasing its operating portfolio to more than 380 properties across multiple brands.
International expansion included the opening of Taj Hessischer Hof in Frankfurt, Germany, and Taj Bush Lodge in Greater Kruger, South Africa.
Within India, the SeleQtions brand expanded with Ayodhayam in Ayodhya and Bandra House in Mumbai, while Gateway added a new hotel in Kandla. Ginger continued its nationwide growth with new openings in Hyderabad, Agra, Kota, Gadchiroli in Maharashtra and Siwan in Bihar.
Taj and Ginger Lead the Portfolio
Among IHCL’s brands, Ginger remains the company’s largest with 262 hotels, including 166 operating properties and 96 under development. Taj follows with a portfolio of 150 hotels, comprising 93 operating hotels and 57 in the pipeline.
The company also continues to grow brands including SeleQtions, Vivanta, Gateway, Tree of Life, Brij, Claridges Collection and Atmantan.
IHCL said the latest additions keep the company on track to achieve its long-term Accelerate 2030 strategy, which targets a portfolio of 700 hotels in the coming years.
