Krakow Airport Records One Of Its Best Ever Months With 1.3 Million Passengers

Krakow Airport delivered one of the strongest monthly performances in its history during May 2026 after handling more than 1.3 million passengers, continuing a period of rapid growth that is helping position it among Poland’s fastest-expanding airports.

The latest figures represent another milestone for the airport as passenger traffic continues accelerating ahead of the peak summer travel season.

Airport data shows passenger numbers increased significantly compared with the same period last year, reflecting strong tourism demand and expanding connectivity.

Passenger Traffic Climbs Nearly 16 Percent Year Over Year

More than 1.3 million travelers passed through Krakow Airport during May 2026, compared with just under 1.2 million passengers during May 2025.

The increase represents growth of nearly 16 percent year over year, highlighting the pace at which demand continues increasing.

The airport currently remains one of the country’s fastest-growing aviation hubs as airlines continue expanding capacity and route networks.

Tourism Growth Continues Driving Passenger Demand

Airport officials say strong passenger growth reflects the increasing popularity of Krakow and the surrounding region among both international and domestic travelers.

The city has experienced rising tourism demand in recent years as visitors continue seeking cultural attractions, historical sites and short-break destinations across Central Europe.

Growing visitor numbers have also supported broader aviation expansion as airlines respond with additional routes and increased frequencies.

Strong Results Come Ahead Of Peak Summer Travel Period

The strong May figures arrive shortly before the busiest period of the year for European aviation, when airports traditionally experience their highest passenger volumes.

Summer schedules are expected to further increase traffic levels as leisure travel demand rises across Europe.

Industry observers view the latest numbers as another signal that Krakow Airport remains on track for another strong year as competition between regional airports intensifies.
