Qantas Points Now Book Philippine Airlines at Low Rates

Qantas Frequent Flyer members can now use points to book flights on Philippine Airlines at low Classic Reward rates, adding another partner to the airline’s redemption network.

The move gives travellers more options across the Philippines and beyond, with access to routes operated by the flag carrier through Qantas’ award booking system. It also expands the value of Qantas Points for people looking to use their balances on international travel.

The new redemption option is available at Classic Reward rates, which Qantas uses for fixed-point bookings on partner airlines. The announcement means members can search and book Philippine Airlines flights through Qantas channels rather than paying cash for the ticket.

Qantas has continued to widen the ways members can spend points on partner airlines, part of a broader strategy to keep its loyalty programme competitive. For frequent flyers, partner redemptions are often attractive because they can provide access to routes and cabin options that are not always available through Qantas’ own network.

Philippine Airlines is the flag carrier of the Philippines and operates a network covering domestic routes as well as destinations across Asia, North America, Australia and the Middle East. The new partnership gives Qantas members another option when planning travel to the Philippines, including popular onward connections beyond Manila.

Classic Reward seats are usually in demand because they are priced at set rates rather than being tied directly to cash fares. That can make them appealing when airline ticket prices rise, although availability can be limited and depends on each flight.

For Qantas, the addition of Philippine Airlines strengthens its relationship with overseas carriers and adds to the long list of airlines bookable with points. For members, the practical effect is simple: more routes, more choice and another chance to use points for long-haul or multi-stop trips.

Travel loyalty schemes have become increasingly important as airlines look for ways to retain customers and encourage repeat bookings. Qantas has leaned heavily on its frequent flyer base, and new partner redemptions are one of the main ways it keeps the programme relevant for travellers who do not always fly the Australian carrier itself.

Members who want to use points typically need to check award availability before booking, as low-rate seats can disappear quickly on popular routes. As with other partner bookings, the number of points required can vary by route, cabin class and travel date.

The update is likely to be welcomed by travellers heading to the Philippines, a market that has grown in importance for leisure, family and business travel. It also gives Qantas members a new way to reach one of Southeast Asia’s busiest aviation hubs using points rather than cash.
