French Bee Pilots File Strike Notice Over Pay Dispute

Pilots at French low-cost airline French Bee have filed a strike notice in a dispute over salaries and compensation for long-haul operations, raising the possibility of flight disruptions later this week.

The strike notice was submitted by the Syndicat national des Pilotes de Ligne union and covers the period from Wednesday, 13 May through Monday, 18 May.

The action has been filed as a renewable strike notice, meaning it could continue beyond those dates if negotiations fail to resolve the dispute.

Pay Freeze At Centre Of Dispute

The union says the disagreement centres on salaries that have reportedly remained frozen for the past two years.

Pilots are also demanding improved compensation for operating long-haul flights.

French Bee specialises in long-distance low-cost routes and operates within the same airline group as Caribbean carrier Air Caraïbes.

Airline Monitoring Weekend Flight Schedule

According to French media reports, French Bee expects its flights on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday to operate normally.

However, the airline has not yet confirmed whether weekend services could be affected if the strike action proceeds.

Passengers with upcoming bookings have been advised to contact the airline directly for the latest operational updates.

Potential Impact On Long-Haul Travel

French Bee operates several long-haul routes connecting France with destinations in the Caribbean, North America and the Indian Ocean.

Any prolonged strike action could therefore affect travellers during a busy period for international leisure travel.

The dispute adds to wider labour tensions affecting parts of the European aviation sector as airline staff unions continue pushing for higher pay and improved working conditions amid rising travel demand and operational pressures.
