‘Haunted’ Al Qasimi Palace in Ras Al Khaimah Listed for Sale, After Years as a Museum Attraction

The Al Qasimi Palace in Ras Al Khaimah — long famous locally as the “haunted palace” and more recently operated as a paid visitor attraction — has been listed for sale by private brokers, according to property advertisements and regional media reports.

A palace associated with the Al Qasimi ruling family has reportedly “hit the market,” renewing public interest in the landmark located in the Al Dhait district of Ras Al Khaimah.

Real estate listings describe the property as a 20-bedroom palace featuring a majlis, 16 bathrooms, and a private lift, situated on a prominent hill. One agency advertises it as the “Al Qasimi Palace,” offering potential for conversion into a boutique hotel or cultural venue. Other advertisements refer to it as an “amazing haunted palace for sale” — echoing the legends that have surrounded the building for decades.

The palace, also known as Al Qasr Al Ghamedh, was built in the late 20th century by the late Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Humaid Al Qasimi. Once abandoned and shrouded in myth, it was reopened to the public several years ago as a museum attraction, featuring guided tours and exhibitions highlighting the building’s ornate architecture and mysterious history.

Neither the asking price nor the ownership details have been disclosed. It remains unclear whether the property is being sold by private owners or through intermediaries. Any redevelopment of the site would require coordination with local authorities, as the palace holds cultural and historical significance for the emirate.

If sold, the property could see a new life beyond its current museum use. Brokers have suggested potential future purposes such as a luxury hotel, cultural center, or private estate — though these ideas would depend on planning permissions and heritage regulations.
