Azerai Can Tho Introduces Monthly Pilates Retreats

Azerai Can Tho is introducing monthly four-day, three-night Pilates retreats starting in March, as the resort continues to embrace its growing reputation as one of southern Vietnam’s most unique wellness destinations. The next Pilates retreat is scheduled to be held from March 8-11.

Located on a private islet on the Hau River in the Mekong Delta and accessible only by boat, Azerai Can Tho offers a peaceful natural setting for retreats, and includes a new Pilates studio featuring the latest in allegro reformer equipment (six machines) in a sleekly designed, well-lit space with vaulted hardwood ceilings.

The resort, which is only three hours’ drive from Ho Chi Minh City, is secluded but close to the city of Can Tho, and the campus is lush with greenery and mature banyan trees.

“Our new Pilates retreats are one more step for Azerai Can Tho as we become a total wellness destination in Vietnam. The response to our first Pilates retreat in January was very encouraging. There is truly no better environment for a healthy and relaxing escape than our breezy islet,” said Azerai Can Tho General Manager Vuko Kralj.

The new Pilates retreats include a 45-minute posture analysis, five 60-minute Pilates sessions per stay on reformers, a 60-minute wellbeing spa treatment and a 60-minute antioxidant green tea scrub at The Azerai Spa. All activities will comply with government and local authority health regulations. As such, spa treatments on the itinerary are subject to possible replacement with other activities.

Other activities include guided meditation, yoga, a sunset cruise, stretching classes and more. In between structured activities, guests can bicycle around the islet, swim in the resort’s pool or even play a game of tennis.

Led by veteran Pilates instructor Amy Van Dooremalen, the retreats are designed for beginners and experienced practitioners alike.

Upon arrival on the first day, guests receive a 30-minute signature therapy or foot, head and shoulder massage, followed by light stretching and a consultation. Day two kicks off with in-room healthy snacks, juice, coffee and tea, followed by a Pilates session in the studio. The afternoon includes another Pilates session, as well as a guided meditation on a sunset cruise and spa therapy.

The third day begins with in-room healthy snacks, juice, coffee and tea before a Pilates session. After lunch, guests will undertake a yoga session, followed by Pilates on a yoga mat in the breezy outdoor yoga pavilion, and a 60-minute spa session. The fourth morning includes a Pilates session on mats again followed by breakfast and an early afternoon departure.

The new Pilates retreats follow the resort’s successful rollout last year of four- and six-day yoga retreats that include dynamic hatha yoga and status asanas sessions, a river cruise, healthy meals, spa treatments, live cooking sessions and more.
