IHG Expands Luxury Portfolio in Mexico, Latin America, and the Caribbean

IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG) is celebrating the remarkable expansion of its luxury and lifestyle portfolio in Mexico, Latin America, and the Caribbean (MLAC). This growth highlights IHG’s strategic focus, substantial investment, and ambitious plans for the region. With five openings already in 2024 and 32 properties in the pipeline, IHG is set to more than double its luxury and lifestyle presence in MLAC in the coming years.

Leanne Harwood, SVP and Managing Director for Luxury & Lifestyle Americas at IHG, commented, “The significant expansion of our luxury and lifestyle portfolio across the Mexico, Latin America, and Caribbean markets demonstrates our brands continue to not only be in demand, but are also embraced for their distinct offerings. From spectacular retreats at Six Senses and storied heritage at InterContinental to laid-back luxury at Kimpton, boutique neighborhood settings at Hotel Indigo, and one-of-a-kind stays at Vignette Collection, each one opens the door to more destinations than ever before.”

New and Upcoming Openings in Mexico, Latin America, and the Caribbean

Six Senses
Six Senses, renowned for its wellness and sustainability experiences, made its regional debut in April with Six Senses La Sagesse in Grenada. This resort offers unique experiences that connect guests with Grenada’s Spice Island heritage, including farm-to-table cooking, a spa using local spices, and culinary menus featuring produce from the island’s fertile volcanic soil. Future openings include Six Senses Grand Bahama and Six Senses Xala, expected by 2026.

InterContinental Hotels & Resorts
InterContinental, the world’s first and largest luxury hotel brand, boasts 20 properties in MLAC. In Spring 2023, InterContinental Dominica Cabrits Resort & Nature Spa opened, offering a secluded beachfront sanctuary. Looking ahead, InterContinental Presidente Monterrey in Mexico is set to open in the second half of 2024, featuring a signature restaurant, craft cocktail bar, coffee shop, spa, extensive meeting spaces, and proximity to local attractions. The InterContinental Grenada Resort is projected to open in 2025.

Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants
Kimpton continues its growth in MLAC with the opening of Kimpton Grand Roatán Resort & Spa in Fall 2023, followed by Kimpton Virgilio in Mexico City and Kimpton Mas Olas Resort & Spa in Todos Santos. This summer, Kimpton Las Mercedes will open in Santo Domingo, and the brand’s first all-inclusive beachfront resort, Kimpton Tres Ríos Riviera Maya, is set to debut by year’s end.

Vignette Collection
Vignette Collection, IHG’s newest luxury and lifestyle brand, will debut in Mexico and the Americas with El Gran Encomendero in Valladolid, expected to open in 2025. This 83-room property is set in a historic town recently designated as a “Magical Town” by the Mexican Ministry of Tourism.

Hotel Indigo
Hotel Indigo draws inspiration from local neighborhoods to create vibrant atmospheres. The brand recently opened Hotel Indigo Grand Cayman on Seven Mile Beach, offering 282 water view rooms and unique dining experiences. Earlier in the year, Hotel Indigo La Paz Puerta Cortés opened, and Hotel Indigo Tijuana is set to open later this year.

Future Signings
IHG announced milestone signings in Turks & Caicos for InterContinental, Kimpton, and Hotel Indigo, all set on Grace Bay and poised to open by 2027.

With over 850 luxury and lifestyle hotels open or in the pipeline globally, IHG continues to transform its portfolio, further solidifying its position as a leader in the hospitality industry.
