LOT Polish Airlines Begins Only Service between Florida and East Europe

On June 1, Miami International Airport welcomed the inaugural Warsaw-Miami flight by LOT Polish Airlines, which creates the only nonstop route between Florida and Eastern Europe and the airport’s first-ever service to Poland. Warsaw brings MIA’s network of European destinations to 24, while Miami will join LOT’s eight other nonstop destinations in North America.

“LOT Polish Airlines is an exciting addition to MIA’s growing roster of international carriers. This new connection to Eastern Europe will go a long way toward expanding MIA’s role as a true global gateway,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez.

“At present, there are nearly 500,000 people of Polish origin living in Florida. We are very glad that we can meet the expectations and needs of the Polish Diaspora in America who now, for the first time, can take advantage of direct flights on the route between Poland and the U.S,” said RafaÅ‚ Milczarski, LOT CEO.

LOT now operates four weekly flights with new generation B787-8 Dreamliner aircraft that seat 252 passengers. LOT’s hub operation at Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW) provides passengers more than 350 daily flights to 111 destinations worldwide, as well as extensive connections throughout Central and Eastern Europe.

LOT, which launched operations in 1928, carried a total of 8.9 million passengers in 2018. This year, it plans to carry approximately 10 million passengers.
