Belavia Adds Two New Embraers to Its Fleet

Embraer-195 aircraft took off from the manufacturing plant (São José dos Campos, Brazil) and landed at Minsk National Airport on April 20, 2019 in a new Belavia livery, and the second new Embraer-175 aircraft landed in Minsk on April 21, 2019.

The aircraft is supplied under terms of the contract between JSC Belavia-Belarusian Airlines and Nordic Aviation Capital DAC relating to leasing of five new Embraer aircraft: three – Embraer-195 and two – Embraer-175. The supply of the third E195 aircraft is expected at the end of April 2019. The fourth and fifth airplanes will be supplied in December 2019 and April 2020.

Modern Embraer completely meet demands of massive increase in passenger flow of the airline and fully replace small CRJ in the future. Cabin design ensures passengers’ maximum comfort owing to 2+2 seating layout – in economy class, and 2+1 – in business class. The new aircraft presents a type of business class with a rigid partition and an increased distance between the seats. The Embraer-195 which arrived today is designed to carry 107 passengers in a two-class layout: 11 seats are in the business class cabin, and 96 are in economy class. Embraer-175, which will land tomorrow at Minsk National Airport, is designed to carry 76 passengers in a two-class layout: 12 seats are in the business class cabin, and 64 are in economy class. The new airplanes will carry out the first commercial flight already on April 23, after the completion of all customs and technical procedures.

New planes are planned to be used on almost all flights of the Belarusian airline’s route network. For example, on Monday, Belavia opens direct flights to Sheremetyevo Airport (Moscow), and on May 30, it opens direct flights to Tallinn, where these types of aircraft will be used.

Aircraft of the E1 family are fully consistent with the goals of the airline to further develop the route network and reduce the cost of travel. This type of aircraft has a high fuel efficiency. Belavia expects that the increase in the number of aircraft of this type will allow the company to continue implementing the strategy for systematic reduction in prices for air travel.

The airplane traveled 12,000 kilometers from the manufacturing plant located in the city of São José dos Campos, having spent more than 16 hours in flight, having changed 4 climate zones, and having managed to cross 6 time zones.
