Melia Hotels Opens Seven Properties in Dominican Republic

Spain-based Melia Hotels International held its official opening ceremony for its newest of seven properties in the Dominican Republic, the $100-million, 432-room Grand Reserve at Paradisus Palma Real luxury all-inclusive hotel and 144 one and two-bedroom Circle by Melia membership resort.

On hand for the commemoration were the President of the Dominican Republic, Danilo Medina, the Dominican Republic Minister of Tourism Francisco Javier Garcia Fernandez, President of ASONAHORES (National Hotel and Restaurant Association of the Dominican Republic) Paola Raineri, and Melia Hotels International’s Regional Vice President for the Americas Alvaro Tejeda Schroder.

According to Tejeda, the hotel and resort, which together employee 1,000 people, were planned and opened with the most sophisticated design that incorporates the most advanced technologies based on internet use, enabling guests and members access to their resort and room installations around the clock. ā€œMelia’s goal is to promote sustainable growth and create long-term relationships with strategic partners with a brand that guarantees an absolute commitment to responsible tourism, the environment and integration of local culture,” he added.

The Grand Reserve at Paradisus Palma Real and Circle by Melia together feature 14 specialty restaurants and bars, the world-class Maia Spa, BLAST!Ā® Aqua Adventure water park, Kid’s Club, Fitness Studio and seven swimming pools.   A total of 108 special ground-level Swim-Up Suites have direct access to an exclusive pool, complete with lush garden areas and a solarium.
