Allegro Passenger Numbers up by 18.8%

In March 2019, 40,100 passengers travelled on the international Allegro high-speed services running between St. Petersburg – Helsinki, an increase of 21.7% compared to March 2018. During January-March 2018, 11,800 passengers used the Allegro trains, which exceeds the level for the first quarter in the previous year by 18.8%.

Since the launch of the Allegro services between St. Petersburg and Helsinki on 12 December 2010, almost 3.4 million people have travelled on these trains.

The increasing attractiveness of Allegro trains to passengers is facilitated by flexible fares and marketing initiatives, as well as by the special dual trains with double the usual number of carriages which are laid on during periods of peak demand. Some Allegro trains, for example, will run with double carriages from 19 April to 5 May 2019. Since 4 October, 2018, tickets for Allegro high-speed trains have gone on sale 90 days before the train’s departure.

Passengers can obtain detailed information about the Allegro train timetable and ticket costs. They can also book tickets at railway ticket offices, online at the Russian Railways official website and through the RZD Passengers mobile app.

When selling tickets, settlements are made in roubles at the rate set by the Central Bank of Russia on the date the tickets are booked.
