Delta Cancels 80 Flights

Delta has issued a New York City weather waiver and extended a previous Boston weather waiver through Monday ahead of the latest Northeast winter storm system.

Both waivers allow customers with flexibility in their travel plans the opportunity to make a one-time change to their itinerary without incurring a fee.

The airline cancelled 80 Delta Connection regional flights Sunday afternoon in anticipation of the inclement weather, with additional schedule adjustments likely as the storm moves into the Northeast. Delta’s Meteorology team in the airline’s Operation and Customer Center expects frozen precipitation in the region to begin Sunday evening into the overnight, tapering off Monday morning around sunrise. Five to nine inches of snowfall expected in Boston while the New York metros will likely see four to seven inches.

Ahead of the storm, Delta dispatched additional employees to Boston and New York to help support the airline’s de-icing efforts. Delta’s operations teams are also coordinating the removal of aircraft scheduled to remain overnight at these airports to aid Monday’s start up.

Customers are encouraged to check their flight status on Delta.com or the Fly Delta Mobile App. Customers can also get updates sent directly to their mobile device or by email with One-Time Flight Notification.
