The Blue Flag has recognized 5 beaches throughout the city for their clean water quality and rubbish-free stretches of sand. Blue flags can so far be seen at Jumeirah 1,2 and 3 beaches as well as Umm Suqeim 1 and 2 beaches.
The Blue Flag programme is operated internationally under the management of the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) with Head Offices in Copenhagen, Denmark.
FEE has national member organisations in more than 70 countries worldwide. Many of these member organisations administrate the Blue Flag programme at the national level or are considering starting the implementation of the programme.
The Blue Flag has been awarded to 4,558 beaches and marinas in 44 countries. In order to qualify for the Blue Flag, a series of stringent environmental, educational, safety, and accessibility criteria must be met and maintained.
