The company will operate services every single day during the whole festive period, helping people travel across the country to enjoy seasonal festivities when other modes of transport are not running.
Major improvement work on the UK rail network is planned from Sunday 23 – Monday 31 December and some train journeys will be unavailable. To ensure customers can travel throughout the festive season megabus.com is adding additional coach services between London and Swansea between 23 December – 1 January (excluding December 25 and 26).
The low-cost coach operator will provide more than 4372 seats on its services on Christmas Day, operating a record 10,470 miles and serving 28 locations across Scotland, England and Wales.
These include London, Milton Keynes, Coventry, Leicester, Loughborough, Birmingham, Nottingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Wakefield, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Edinburgh Airport, Glasgow, Gatwick Airport, Swindon, Bristol, Newport, Cardiff, Swansea, Exeter, Plymouth, Bodmin/St. Austell, Newquay, Redruth and Falmouth.
megabus.com will also provide links to Heathrow Airport which will not be served by any rail links on Christmas Day.
On all other days throughout Christmas and New Year, including New Year’s Day, megabus.com will operate a near-normal service on most routes across the UK, with only some minor changes to timetables.
Passengers are, however, advised to double check the times of their specific journeys as there may be slight changes to some routes or timetables compared to other times of the year.
On New Year’s Eve, megabus.com will again operate special services departing London after the New Year celebrations and will provide links to Reading, Swindon, Milton Keynes, Rugby, Leicester, Loughborough, Coventry, Birmingham, Nottingham, Norwich, Bristol, Newport, Cardiff, Swansea, Exeter, Plymouth, Wakefield, Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool, Middlesbrough, Sunderland and Newcastle.
megabus.com Managing Director Mark Venables said: “The festive period is a busy time of year for many people and we’re glad to be able to help by providing important transport links every single day during Christmas and New Year, including times when no train services are running. This is especially important this year as many rail routes are closed for longer due to major improvement works.
“We hope our services will make it easier for people to visit family and friends and to enjoy the festivities.”
