ANA prioritizes passenger safety and sought to present the safety information in an engaging manner that also provides unique insight into Japanese culture. Kabuki theater is a traditional form of Japanese theater with deep roots dating back to the Edo Period. Kabuki theater continues to build on its storied past and was added to the UNESCO Intangible Cultural HeritageOpens in a new window list in 2008. The Kabuki-themed in-flight safety video will show safety procedures in an entertaining way using real Kabuki actors from the celebrated play Sugawara Denju Tenarai Kagami (Sugawara and the Secrets of Calligraphy).

There are three versions of the in-flight video featuring different cabin attendants and musical accompaniment with an additional “behind the scenes” video depicting how the safety video was made. This bonus video will play at the end of the flight while passengers are waiting to deplane.

With Inspiration of JAPAN as the core concept of our brand, ANA is committed to combining the best of traditional Japanese hospitality with the spirit of modern Japan. This new safety video is just the latest example of how the company brings the best of both worlds to our travelers and at the same time aims to contribute to the achievement of the 11.4 sustainable development goal. ANA hopes that this will be an effective way to help travelers learn flight safety procedures.
