According to the latest figures, 80.4 million passengers were transported on the infrastructure of Russian Railways during January 2018, 3.8% more than in the same month last year. Suburban passenger numbers amounted to 72.2 million, an increase of 3.4%, while long-distance passengers jumped to 8.2 million, up 6.9%.
Passenger turnover in January 2018 amounted to 8.8 billion passenger-kilometres, 3.1% more than in the same month of 2017. Suburban passenger turnover rose slightly to 2.2 billion passenger-kilometres, an increase of 0.8%, while long-distance passenger turnover increased to 6.6 billion passenger-kilometres, up 3.9%.
Over 9 million passengers were transported on the Moscow Central Ring (MCC) in January 2018, a jump of 34% compared to January 2017. Since it was launched, a total of 146.6 million passengers have used the services of the Moscow Central Ring. The MCC reached a record number of passengers on 14 December 2017 of 431,300 people, the highest figure following its launch on 10 September 2016.
