Fans of FIFA-2017 to Travel Free of Charge on Long-Distance Trains

The RZD Holding, together with the ANO Transport Directorate-2018, has developed and implemented a set of tasks to ensure that fans can travel free of charge to the cities where the FIFA 2017 Confederations Cup will be held.

Fans can register themselves and apply for free travel on the Internet resource of ANO “Transport Directorate-2018.”

Applications are automatically transmitted to the site of Russian Railways and the ticketing system, which provides “online” registration and books the free travel.

To obtain the right to free travel on the special trains connecting the cities which will host the matches, fans must:

  • purchase a ticket for the match held in the host city;
  • book their fan passport FAN ID through the site www.fan-id.ru/en;
  • register and book their free ticket to the city where the match will take place.

When boarding the additional trains, passengers will have to present their match tickets or a document entitling them to receive a match ticket, an identity document (passport), the fan passport (FAN ID) and their boarding coupon.

To prepare for the transportation during the upcoming competitions, Russian Railways conducted an assessment of the existing and prospective passenger traffic between the host cities. The evaluation was carried out in accordance with the transport strategy of the FIFA 2017 Confederations Cup and the FIFA 2018 FIFA World Cup, which was approved by Government Decree No. 2858-r of the Russian Federation issued on 27 December 2016.

Russian Railways has increased the number of day and night trains running between the cities participating in the competitions and prepared stations and other passenger infrastructure. A special passenger train timetable was developed and approved for the duration of the FIFA 2017 Confederations Cup. According to the timetable, 262 trains carrying fans free of charge on 6 routes will connect the four cities where the competitions will be held.

Additional trains will run from 15 June to 4 July 2017. The trains will consist of compartment cars and a dining car. The train’s staff car will have a special compartment for low-mobility citizens.

Compartment cars built in recent years are equipped with environmentally friendly biotoilet complexes and air conditioning systems. On some routes, double-decker carriages will run with some trains.
