First Hilton in the Baltics Expected To Open in 2016

Set to open in the heart of Estonia’s historic capital, Hilton Tallinn becomes Hilton Worldwide‘s first property to be announced in the Baltic States. The upscale hotel is expected to begin welcoming guests in 2016 and will be located just a few minutes’ walk from the historic old town and major commercial areas of the city, making it an ideal choice for both business and leisure guests.

tallinThe announcement comes following the signing of a management agreement by Hilton Worldwide with project owner Fortuna Travel OÜ, part of the Olympic Entertainment Group that is publicly listed on the Tallinn and Warsaw Stock Exchange.

“With Hilton Worldwide’s heritage in Europe stretching almost 60 years, we are delighted to announce our expansion into the Baltic region,” said Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice president, development, Europe & Africa, Hilton Worldwide. “Hilton Tallinn is a high quality project and a superb example of our core Hilton brand expanding in capital cities and popular destinations across the region.”

The new build hotel will offer 202 guest rooms and suites, as well as facilities including a business center, fitness center, spa with indoor swimming pool and an outdoor sun terrace. In addition, the project designs feature an all-day dining restaurant, with private dining room and lobby bar.

Rob Palleschi, global head, Hilton Hotels & Resorts said, “Conrad Hilton began opening hotels in Europe in the 1950s, bringing legendary Hilton service to many new destinations. This remarkable journey continues to this day as we expand into new countries such as Estonia, with superb projects joining the 152 properties Hilton Hotels & Resorts already features in Europe.”

The medieval old town of Tallinn was granted UNESCO World Heritage Site status in 1997 and has been gradually building its profile as one of Europe’s leading city break destinations. Well preserved cobbled streets with historic townhouses now feature fashionable shops and lively cafes. Hilton Tallinn will open within walking distance of Tallinn’s business district, as well as tourist attractions such as the Estonian National Opera House, Kumu Art Museum of Estonia and the Presidential Palace.

In recent years the city has benefited from new airline routes to Tallinn Airport from major cities such as London, Frankfurt, Moscow and Scandinavian countries. Nearby business organizations and major employers to the hotel include financial organizations, government departments and media companies.
